Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 striker Yakubu has urged the fans to give the manager Steve Kean a much needed break and instead focus their energies on supporting the team.
The supporters have been less than forgiving since the start of the season, constantly calling for the removal of the Scotsman. They have gone as far as organized protests, with banners and posters of Kean Out at their fixtures held at Ewood Park.
Their show of disappointment has done little to help the team recover from their terrible slump and Yakubu feels its time they stopped. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 man believes the team would do better if the fans got behind the team instead of criticizing the manager.
Yakubu said in an interview:
“They should give him a break and support the team. That is what we want.
At home it's 'He has to go, he has to go' but things have changed. This is a fresh start.
We are looking forward to the game with Stoke. Hopefully, the fans can get behind the team.”
The 29-year-old Nigerian revealed he was a 100% behind the manager and expected the fans to do the same, instead of protesting against him. Yakubu praised Kean for his managerial skills which helped the team secure a win over Manchester United.
He continued:
“He believes in the players - he never puts pressure on us, even when we are losing.
He tells us 'Enjoy yourselves and give everything'. So the players are playing for the manager and the club.”
Yakubu said the manager believed in the players and was highly encouraging before every fixture, which was the reason why they never failed to find the back of the net. He revealed, like him, the entire squad was behind the manager.
As for Kean himself, the manager claimed that he did not wish to give up his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 at Ewood Park even if the fans were disappointed with him. The Scottish manager claimed he had the owner’s support and was confident he could help the club out of the relegation
zone and into a safer spot before the end of the 2011-2012 season.
