According to reports the Rovers have already rejected two offers from QPR for Samba, who handed in a transfer request earlier on in the season. The 27-year-old was reminded that he was contracted to the club until the 2015 season and should honour his contract.
Samba, who is currently captain of the Rovers, revealed he wanted to leave the side because he felt it was time for a change and a fresh challenge. The Congolese defender also revealed he had been lied to at the club and wanted to leave in the winter transfer
window.
He went on to hand in a transfer request which was swiftly rejected by the club, who are intent on keeping the defender at least until the end of the season. The manager once again revealed the club wanted to keep Samba and were not interested in selling
him any time soon.
Kean said in an interview:
“The statement reads for itself. We want to keep http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006. Obviously we know there's bids out there for him but it's a mark of what we're trying to do that we've refused the bids and that's where we are.
We've only had two bids from one club. There's not been any other clubs in contact. Chris is under contract and we've been in dialogue with Chris yesterday. We want him to stay at the club and that's what we'll be fighting to do.”
As for the Rovers plans in the winter transfer window, Kean revealed that while the club had a few options lined up they were not yet decided on who they wanted to bring in. The Scottish manager said he was hopeful they would be able to bring in a few new
faces.
He continued:
“I think it's been quite slow for a number of clubs and we're one of them. We've been very active; myself, the directors, the owners. We've had extensive lists, we've got bids and we're hopeful we can bring new faces in.”
