Hoilett will be out of contract at the end of the season and despite talks between the two parties there hasn’t been a contract extension. With links to the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Hoilett could leave after his contract with the Rovers expires.
However, since he is under the age of 24 years old, Blackburn Rovers would be entitle to a development compensation from whichever side he decides to join. Blackburn manager Steve Kean has conceded Hoilett’s departure and has already decided to take offers.
However, Hoilett Snr. Revealed he does not expect any talks in the near future but admitted a move away to another Premier League was possible. He did make clear though that the move would have to wait until the end of the season.
Hoilett Snr. said while speaking to reporters:
“Considering his contract, there have not been any talks recently and to be honest I don't really see any at the moment. I don't think there will any more talks at the moment.
Concerning a move to other clubs, it is a bit up in the air at the minute. I can see with the club knowing that they will get some sort of compensation; it may not be within their best interests to off-load him considering what is going on with (Christopher)
Samba at the moment.”
With Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christopher-Samba-c9212 recently having handed in a transfer request, it was rumoured that Hoilett had done the same. His father went on to deny the reports, claiming his son had not handed in a transfer request, despite wanting
to leave the club.
He revealed:
“There was a rumour we handed in an official transfer request, but that is a rumour, we never did.”
The Canadian winger began his footballing career with Blackburn Rovers youth academy and graduated to the senior team in 2007. Since then he has had loan spells with Pederborn 07 and St. Pauli and has made 63 appearances for the Rovers in Premier League
with 8 goals.
