Blackburn Rovers got a 3-1 win as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nikola-Kalinic-c27943 was on the score sheet twice and was later sent off. The win awarded the first 3 points for the new manager for Blackburn, Steve Kean.
The first goal came just 3 minutes into the game, but soon Jerome Thomas got the Baggies on level terms. Later two set pieces resulted in 2 goals for Rovers as Kalinic and Mame Diouf headed in goals to seal the win.
Sam Allardyce, the former manager of Blackburn, would have certainly been proud of the way http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 got their last 2 goals. He was a man who always emphasised on the importance of making use of set pieces, but the credit will now go to the new man in charge,
Steve Kean.
Kalinic, by far, was the best player for the Rovers, but they were also given a good hand by the lacklustre Baggies defense. The back four for West Brom were clearly not on their best and lapses in concentration at crucial junctures cost them the match.
Blackburn started the game with a number of problems; the new manager had not been able to get a win in his first 2 matches and that also included the 7-1 drubbing against Manchester United. The last defeat at the hands of Stoke City on Boxing day resulted
in their fans protesting with live chickens outside the stadium.
All that put aside, the Rovers did start the game positively and it was the left footer, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Morten-Gamst-Pedersen-c26824, who used his vision to play an excellent ball to Kalinic, who managed to beat the off side trap and moved into the box before sliding the ball
past Scott Carson.
West Brom did their best to hit back and actually did get pretty close to equalising soon after. Graham Dorrans tried his luck from a distance but Paul Robinson was there to palm it away.
Kalinic could have scored again soon after, but his right footed effort just went over the bar and the score remained 1-0.
It was Morrison who played an important role in getting the Baggies on level terms. He charged down the middle, passing the ball perfectly to Tchoyi, who laid it off to Thomas to tap it in.
Blackburn regained the lead after the break from a corner. It was, once again, Pedersen who was the provider. The winger sent in a perfect cross and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Nelsen-c31992 helped the ball to the centre of the box, and Kalinic made it 2-1. The 3rd goal did
not take long and once again the defence of West Brom was to blame for. Pederson, this time, played a short corner and El-Hadji Diouf was given ample time to pick his spot and sent in the cross to Mame Diouf who easily headed it in and sealed the win.
After the match Blackburn manager, Steve Kean, said that he was happy to finally get the first win under his belt. He added that he had been working hard with the team to get the formula right, and was pleased with the performance of his team away from home.
On the other hand, West Brom boss, Roberto Di Matteo, was not happy with his defense at all; Roberto said that his team let their guard down at crucial moments and that is what cost them in the end.
