Blackburn have confirmed their interest in Ronaldinho
Blackburn Rovers have finally confirmed that the club is interested in signing the Brazilian star Ronaldinho. After days of speculation, Venky's director Venkatesh Rao on Monday stated that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldinho-c31733 to Ewood Park.
Rao had stated, “That is not true. There is no interest at all, they are just rumors.” His statement however has been rebuffed by owner and chairperson, Anuradha Desai, of Venky, the Indian company which owns Blackburn.
Desai has said, “He is keen to play in the EPL and I think that goes in our favor." She also went on to discuss the proposed payments, “To be precise €7.6 million (£6.5 million) for the first year and about €8.5 million (£7.2 million) for the
second and third years."
When on Monday Rao dismissed Rovers’ interest in Ronaldinho as mere rumors, he insisted that the new owners are eager to get in quality players. He added that money will not be a hindrance during the January transfer window as the owners are keen to prove
their commitment towards the club. In an attempt to do so, the new owners dismissed manager Sam Allardyce just days after taking over.
Ronaldinho meanwhile has begun talks with Brazilian club Gremio. The two-time FIFA World Player of the Year looks all but certain to end his time at current club AC Milan in the coming few days. Gremio are considered as running favorites to secure the 30
year olds signature. However, the £130,000 a week contract Rovers are reported to have offered the player is bound to have an impact on the Brazilian’s final decision.     
The club has also expressed the desire to sign English midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432. Blackburn manager Steve Kean has stated,
“Hopefully talks can continue and, with someone like Beckham, someone will get a good player if he comes over here, and if he does come back to this country, he is someone we would be interested in."
Blackburn currently lies 12th in the Premier League and are aiming to finish the season in the top half of the table.
