Blackburn Rovers have taken immediate action and axed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Hunt, the club’s deputy chief executive, after a letter where Hunt expressed his desire to remove the manager was leaked.
There is another twist in the ‘Steve Kean Out’ saga that has overshadowed Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385’ poor season in the Barclays Premier League as the club have axed one of their executives after a leak resulted in a confidential letter ending up in the hands of
the public.
It would be best to first add some background to the story. Steve Kean’s appointment as Blackburn manager was met with anger and frustration by the fans who felt that he was not good enough to manage the side.
Having already been relegated after losing to Wigan Athletic last weekend, many fans will have seen it as vindication of their regular protest against the manager. However, it seems that the Board of Directors at Blackburn are intent on giving Kean their
full support as they have stuck by him through thick and thicker.
At the same time they have axed their deputy chief executive, Paul Hunt, after one his letter, in which he calls for Kean’s removal, made its way out of the club’s confidential internal system and onto the internet.
According to the source, the letter criticised the manager and highlighted a number of reasons why the club would be better off without him.
It began, “I have supported him from the start and have been desperate for him to do well. However, I am now of the opinion that it isn’t working and he is ready to go.”
It continued, “He has lost the crowd and, as a result of this evening’s game (against Bolton), he has lost the dressing room as well. It is a shame and disappointing but we must act now to save the club.”
“With the bank closing in, I fear they will look to foreclosure and have the potential to implement financial restrictions upon the club that could, as a (worst-case) scenario, enforce administration.”
The letter adds a horrifying layer to the already worrying picture of the club and with the side now relegated, one has to wonder what the future holds for Blackburn Rovers.
