Blackburn transfer update: Rovers sign Mauro Formica and Ruben Rochina
Steve Kean pleased to have landed Mauro Formica
Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mauro-Formica-c24972, the Argentinean midfielder, on a long-term deal. The 22 year old Formica arrived for an undisclosed fee at Ewood Park for a three-and-a-half year deal with the Newell’s Old Boys. The midfielder is the fourth signing to arrive in the January transfer window, regarding which Blackburn manager Steve Kean said on the club’s official website, "Mauro is a fantastic talent, an attacking player who has been in great demand. He has great technical ability and is a typical Argentinean with a bit of fight and a bit of devilment in him."
Formica has emerged from the ranks of the Newell’s Old Boys’ youth system and since making his professional debut in 2006 when he was 18; the attacking midfielder nicknamed “Gato” (meaning Cat) has made some 80 appearances for the club. Blackburn sign Barcelona’s Ruben Rochina
Blackburn Rovers have signed Ruben Rochina for an undisclosed fee from Spanish giants Barcelona. The 19-year-old has signed a long-term contract which will keep the player with the Rovers until the 2015 season. The Rovers boss said while speaking to reporters, “Ruben is a genuine addition to our senior squad, a young player with great ability who can play in a number of attacking positions. He joins our elite development group alongside the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Phil-Jones-c29903 and Junior Hoilett and will compete for a place in the team from the word go.”
Rochina has found the net twice in 13 appearances this season for the La Liga giants B team, playing in the Spanish Segunda Division. He is a product of the Barcelona youth system, joining from his hometown club and staying the Spanish side for over seven years. Kean said, “The fact we are able to sign young players from the likes of Barcelona is further evidence of the owners' intention to push the club forward. They told me they were keen to add to our youth development group and this is a significant and exciting signing for us.”
Rochina was the third player to arrive at Ewood Park during the January transfer window after Jermaine http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonas-c18967 and Roque Santa Cruz. After Cruz was declared to be a doubt for the fixture against Tottenham on Wednesday it was revealed that there could be a possibility that the youngster could make his debut for the Rovers against the Spurs in midweek. Santa Cruz, the former Manchester City striker, picked up a groin injury during the FA Cup 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa.
