Blackjack strategy question?

Question

Strategy says I should double down on A, 6 vs a dealer's 2. But what if I had A, 3 and i hit and i get A, 3, 3? Is A, 3, 3 the same as A, 6? I can't double down anymore with A, 3, 3 so is hitting the correct strategy?

always double on A anything under 7 against a dealers 6 or lower...also it doesnt hurt to know the count so you can feel comfortable doing so

A6 counts as a 7 or 17

same goes for A33

and you are right, you cant double down on A33

I think hitting on A33 would  be a mistake because it will most likely bring your value down,,, because A33 is 17 if you hit and get a 10 you are still at 17 but if you hit and get 7-8-9 than it would be 14 -15 -16,, so I would stay.,, the strategy to me is not to get the highest card closest to 21 but to bust the dealer..

First off, you never, ever, ever stand with a soft 17 like Masiela suggested. That's almost as bad as staying with a hand like 8 (a 6 and a 2). You will never win with soft 17 if the dealer doesn't bust, you will only get a push once in a blue moon, and you're giving away a free card since you cannot bust no matter what.

Anyway, when the strategy chart says to double down but you can no longer double down because you have drawn the value on your third (or later) card, then you should always hit. That is the correct way to play.
