Blackmore all set to strike victory in Mirror Punters Club Handicap at Wolverhampton
Blackmore is likely to display a fine show in the Mirror Punters Club Handicap at Wolverhampton on Friday, March 09, 2012. Hold your breaths, as the 2m119y event is about to begin.
According to the schedule, the Class-5 meeting is due to get underway at 20:20 (GMT). Nine fast and furious contestants will pursue a cash prize worth £2,264.
The list of the participants includes: Blackmore, Uncut Stone, Fantino, Sansili, Dream Catcher, Hidden Glory, Cotton King, Russian George and Sam Lord.
On February 23, Blackmore broke the shackles. The five-year-old remained unlucky during his opening two races of the year, finishing second on both occasions.
However, the bay gelding did not lose his determination and produced an exciting performance in the Mix Business With Pleasure At Southwell Handicap.
The things went out of his control for some time, when he lost his advantage in the middle. Yet, the Julia Feilden-trained regained his speed to win the race by ½ of a length. A gritty victory might have boosted up his confidence, and the gelding will be
tough to beat today.
Fantino is also coming into this combat after a victory. However, one cannot overlook his tradition of getting inconsistent time and again. Ahead of his triumph, the six-year-old displayed a few embarrassing performances.
The Pat Murphy-trained will look to continue his winning journey, but he will have to stay consistent in order to accomplish a good result tonight.
Uncut Stone is also starving for his maiden success. The four-year-old has been performing decently since his debut in April 2011, but victories seem to have dried up for him. To do something special, an extra effort will be required on his part.
The bookmakers are not ready to ignore Sansili, who performed poorly in his last three races. However, he is worth chancing today, as he is coming back after a decent break.
Prediction
Blackmore will be very difficult to beat, as the gelding is in good momentum. However, his supporters cannot afford to take things lightly because there are many dangerous participants in the line-up.
Uncut Stone, Fantino and Sansili, all are dangerous, and an upset can be expected from each of them.
