Blackpool boss Ian Holloway pleased with goal keeper Paul Rachubka’s early recovery - English Premier League
Blackpool goal-keeper Paul Rachubka revealed he was back in training after making a speedy recovery from the injury that had threatened to keep him out for the remainder of the season. The 29-year-old is back in training and said he was delighted to have
recovered as soon as he did.
Rachubka had a cartilage problem which kept him out of the first part of the season and he recently made a return last month. His injury however, seemed to make a return and he was expected to be out for the second half of the season as well.
However, he made a quick recovery and revealed he had already started training. The Blackpool stopper said while speaking to reporters, “It was the same injury that was repaired and stitched all back down where I'd torn my cartilage, keeping everything in
which is what they've got to try and do.
Rachubka underwent surgery, which he revealed had been successful. He continued, “But it went again and this time the surgeon trimmed it and removed the damage. Hopefully I'll make a full recovery and it shouldn't affect day-to-day training.”
The Blackpool number one considered himself lucky for making such a quick recovery, “I did it in training on the Thursday and by the Saturday it was all fixed because the surgeon had done it quickly. It was the best I could have hoped for. I've had a quite
quick recovery for what's happened.”
The American-English goal keeper’s return will be a great boost for Blackpool boss Ian Holloway, who has had too many injury problems recently. Holloway was recently considering bringing in a signing on an emergency loan after Rachubka picked up the injury.
Second place goal keeper Matt Gilks has also been unavailable and is not expected back any time soon from his broken kneecap. This left http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Richard-Kingson-c31087 as the only option for Holloway in goal and left him considering the possibility of bringing another keeper.
In the meantime, Holloway brought in Chris Kettings on the bench as a back-up if anything happened to Kingson during the clash against Aston Villa in the Premier League. The 21-year-old stopper Mark Halstead, who was on a loan spell at Kettering, was also
recalled as a third choice keeper.
However, Rachubka’s return will give Blackpool a much needed boost and Ian Holloway will have less to worry about when he has to pick the squad for the Seasiders, in their next fixture. After the 3-1 loss to defending Champions http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, Blackpool travel
to Ewood Park to take on Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385.
