Blackpool keeper Matt Gilks out for two months
Blackpool goalkeeper Matt Gilks will be on the sidelines for up to two months after breaking his kneecap.
The 28-year-old picked up the problem during the 0-0 English Premier League draw with West Ham United on Saturday 13 November while taking a goal-kick, but the club believed the complaint initially to be tendonitis.
As a result, the Scotland international is likely to be out of action until January.
The club's manager Ian Holloway told reporters, "If you can believe it, he did it taking a goal-kick, but played on for 20 minutes until half-time. We knew it was sore but, gracious me, how brave is Matt? It's bad news.
"He is going to have to have it wired up and pinned up to get better and it could take a couple of months. Such is life. Everything was rosy for him but all of a sudden, bang, welcome to the real world. But he's going to be fine. It's not life-threatening."
Gilks, who has played in all but one of Blackpool's league games this season, is likely to be replaced by Ghana international Richard Kingson, who came on for the first-choice keeper at Upton Park.
Meanwhile, Blackpool are also sweating over an injury sustained by Charlie Adam in Scotland's 3-0 friendly win over Faroe Islands on Wednesday 17 November.
The 24-year-old suffered damage to his medial knee ligament in the match and is doubtful for the EPL game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
Holloway added, "I don't think he is going to be available, he couldn't train (on Thursday) morning. But we will leave it right until the last minute Saturday morning. It is not as serious as they thought it was in the Scotland set-up, but it does feel a
little sore."
