Blackpool sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andy-Reid-c6050, retain Charlie Adam
Blackpool have signed midfielder Andy Reid from Sunderland on the final day of the January transfer window. Manager Ian Holloway was quick to say that Reid was not a replacement for Charlie Adam, who, he said, would remain a Blackpool player for the foreseeable
future.
Reid has made 70 appearances for the Black Cats since signing the club three years ago. However, Ireland’s international midfielder failed to make his mark at the Stadium of Light, and Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has decided not to impede his move to
Blackpool.
Seasiders manager Ian Holloway claims that Reid's arrival will not pave the way for Charlie Adam's move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809. Adam has been the target of the Reds in recent weeks, with Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish lately making an improved bid for the player
hoping to secure his services.
However, Holloway is refusing to budge when it comes to Charlie Adam. The enigmatic manager insists that the influential midfielder will remain at Bloomfield road at least until the end of the current season of the Barclays Premier League.
Speaking on the Adam transfer saga, Holloway said, "He's my player and that is the situation at the moment. I spoke to (Liverpool manager) Kenny Dalglish the other day and he made an improved offer. I talked to the chairman about it and he turned it down."
The Seasiders boss went on to add that even if he wanted to sell his star midfielder, he simply does not have enough time to bring in a replacement. Holloway advised Liverpool end their pursuit of the player, saying that he does not foresee a deal being
made before the transfer window closes.
On the other hand, the Blackpool manager said, "He's under contract. Liverpool want to sign him but they keep saying they don't want to sell http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786) so they obviously know how we feel. I strongly suggest to them, I don't think my chairman
will sell him and I don't think we've got enough time to replace Charlie."
