Blackpool striker out for six weeks
Blackpool striker Marlon Harewood has been ruled out of action for up to six weeks after picking up an injury.
The 31-year-old suffered from a hamstring problem while taking part in a training session ahead of his side's English Premier League match with Bolton Wanderers on Saturday 27 November.
Manager Ian Holloway told reporters that he had allowed the session to run on for too long and his forward sustained the injury towards the end of training.
He said: "I wanted it to be competitive at the end of training and it [the session] went on too long. It was my fault. I'm in the doghouse from the physio. How long is Marlon likely to be out for? Five or six weeks."
Harewood added that he was disappointed to have picked up the injury, and is hopeful of making a return to action as soon as possible.
He said: "I did it in training on Wednesday. We were doing sprints and I tore my hamstring. I can't believe it as I was feeling good and thought I was playing well. I'm not a happy man at the moment but I'll keep going and hopefully I'll be back before too
long."
The striker has netted five goals in 11 EPL appearances for the club, helping them to 12th place with 18 points from 14 games after they gained promotion from the Football League Championship last term.
Harewood, who joined Blackpool in the summer transfer window after being released from Aston Villa, started his career with Nottingham Forest before making the switch to West Ham United in 2003.
He netted 56 goals in 170 games while at Upton Park and helped them to reach the FA Cup final in 2006.
Harewood then moved to Villa in 2007 for a fee of four millions pounds, and scored just seven times in 40 games for Villa, and was sent out to both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United during his time there.
