Blackpool v Arsenal – Second half review: English Premier League - Part 2
Following Blackpool’s first goal in the 52nd minute, Arsenal sat back and decided to adopt a defensive strategy. Theo Walcott’s introduction into the match in the 60th minute further cemented this mentality, as the visitors looked to
gain from the spaces in behind Blackpool’s defence. On the other hand, Blackpool pushed on for an equalizing goal after starting the second half of the match as the better side at Bloomfield Road stadium.
In the 64th minute, Keith Southern became the first Blackpool player to get booked after he brought down http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463 near the half-way line to stop Arsenal in their tracks, after the Gunners looked to blitz towards the Blackpool goal with a
counter attack. In the 69th minute, Stephen Crainey followed his team mate in referee http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lee-c21860 Mason’s book as he slid in to haul Theo Walcott to the ground with a late challenge near the right sided touch line.
In the 73rd minute, Arsenal threatened to make Blackpool pay for their gung-ho approach to the match as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 evaded the home side’s offside trap due to Cesc Fabregas’s lofted through ball. The Dutchman was clean through on goal but
his shot was an inaccurate one as it sailed over the cross bar without troubling http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Richard-Kingson-c31087 in Blackpool’s goal.
In the 76th minute, Arsenal killed off the Tangerines with a quick retaliation. Sebastien Squillachi slid in to deny DJ Campbell a shot on goal before playing the ball towards Samir Nasri. The Frenchman found http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873 on Arsenal’s right wing
with a cross field ball and the Englishman in return played in Robin Van Persie. Arsenal’s top scorer finished the move off with the easiest of tap-ins as the score line reached 1-3 at the Bloomfield Road.
In the 79th minute, Gael Clichy’s profligacy almost cost Arsenal a vital goal as the full back surrendered the possession of the ball in front of his own penalty area. DJ Campbell latched onto the loose ball but his eventual shot was blocked off
by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jens-Lehmann-c18297 as Arsenal retained their two goal lead for Ian Holloway’s men.
In the 83rd minute, Blackpool played their last card of the match as Holloway brought off Keith Southern. The midfielder was replaced by Matt Phillips. The last few minutes of regulation time were greeted by a flurry of substitutions by Arsenal
as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aaron-Ramsey-c3065 came on for Cesc Fabregas.
Blackpool also tried to change things around with Sergey Kornilenko’s introduction in the 87th minute, but it was fruitless in the end as the final whistle announced all three points to Arsenal. The Gunners ended up with three goals to one winners
against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road. Two of their three goals came through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Eboué-c12540 in the first half, whereas Robin Van Persie added the third in the second half. It was a solid performance from the Gunners who capitalized on all the
mistakes made by Blackpool’s defence.
