Brett Ormerod managed to recover from his groin injury just in time to make the
bench for the game, while Gary Taylor-Fletcher missed out due to a hamstring injury.
Despite having beaten AC Milan in The Champions League a week ago, this game was not going to be an easy task for Tottenham cause they were without the services of Rafael van der Vaart, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tom-Huddlestone-c35227.

Subs: Halstead, Southern, Ormerod, Phillips, Carney, Puncheon, Reid
Tottenham: Gomes, Gallas, Dawson, Bassong, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Palacios, Modric, Pienaar, Pavlyuchenko, Defoe.

The match kicked off with Tottenham creating the first real chance of the game. In the 12th minute http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Pienaar-c34208 cut across the pitch from the left flank and darted across the pitch to the edge of the Blackpool box. He then went on to fire a
shot, which swerved well above target and as a result, the South African’s attempt to find his first goal for Tottenham went unfulfilled.
Five minutes later, things took a toll for the worst for the visitors. In the 18th minute DJ Campbell was brought down in the penalty area by Sebastien Bassong and the referee had no choice but to point to the spot. Charlie Adam took the resulting
penalty kick and had Gomes beaten with the pace of his shot.
As a result of that conversion, Blackpool were now leading by one goal to nil. As the match progressed both sides were looking to hold onto the possession of the ball. However once the first half neared its end, both teams started to bombard their opponent
goals with numerous shots.
In the 43rd minute, Tottenham had their best chance to get even. A deflected free-kick found its way into the path of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aaron-Lennon-c3062, who then smacked a cross into the Blackpool area. Richard Kingston leaped out to deflect the ball but it ended
up in front of Jermaine Defoe. The English striker then struck an effort towards the Blackpool goal, only to see his shot get blocked on the line.
However on the counter, things just went from bad to worse for Tottenham. Campbell surged forward for Blackpool on the break. The striker then teed up Kornilenko, who went on to back-heel a sublime pass into the path of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/James-Beattie-c17681. Beattie bent a brilliant
cross into the strike zone, which was tapped into the back of the net by DJ Campbell.
The first half ended with Blackpool leading by two goals to nil and things looked dreary for Tottenham.
