Blackpool vs Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League Full Time Match Report (Part 2)
The second half kicked off with Tottenham trying to take the game to the home-side.
In the 46th minute, only a minute into resumption of play and Tottenham looked to have been on the verge of getting a goal. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 found Lennon on the flank and the winger then went on to square a ball to Pienaar. Just when it looked like
Pienaar would find the back of the net, Eardley dove in to make a heroic save and keep things in favour of Blackpool.
As the match progressed, it was Tottenham who looked to be the more offensive in the second-half as Blackpool were looking to just hold onto the lead that they had established in the first half. The best chances of the second-half then started to fall Tottenham’s
way in the last twenty minutes of the game.
In the 70th minute, Lennon played on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roman-Pavlyuchenko-c31639 with a fine cross. The forward then directed a header towards goal, which was palmed away by Kingston. Defoe was once again present to slide onto the ball but Kingston managed to make a sublime
double save and kept hold of the ball this time.
Two minutes later, it seemed like Tottenham had a penalty in their favour. Defoe slipped Modric in with a through ball and Kingston rushed forward and slid in to grab hold of the ball. The keeper sent the Croatian midfielder flying with that save but the
referee ruled it to be a clean tackle.
It just didn’t seem to be Tottenham’s day, despite the mounting pressure; it was Blackpool who made it three goals to nil in the 80th minute. Assou-Ekotto shielded the ball near his area and then tried to slip a back-pass to Gomes. However Brett
Ormerod managed to rush into the Tottenham area and went on to slip his shot beyond the keeper.
Tottenham managed to pick up a consolation goal in the 93rd minute of the game as Pavlyuchenko smacked a long range effort, which took a hefty deflection off Craig Cathcart and found its way into the net.
As a result of that last goal, the match ended with the score line reading three goals to one, in favour of Blackpool. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Craig-Cathcart-c9473 was awarded the man of the match award for his brilliant tackles and goal-line clearances throughout the game. It was also
rather fitting for the man of the match award to be handed to a Blackpool defender, since this performance against Tottenham was one of the most defensively sound ones that the Tangerines had produced all season long.
As a result of the win Blackpool are now five points clear of the relegation zone and can now try to re-establish their place in the top half of the table. On the other hand, Tottenham have a lot of work cut out for them in the near future. The team is scheduled
to take on the Wolverhampton Wanderers this coming weekend and then they have to play host to AC Milan on Wednesday, 9th March at White Hart Lane. Both games are a must win for the team. If they lose against the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 or even draw, they could
fall behind http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and lose the fourth spot in the Premier League table. The team also needs to go all out against Milan, in hopes to confirm their progress to the next round of the Champions League.
