Stephen Crainey eager to face the Blues
Stephen Crainey, the Blackpool defender, revealed he was eager to make his return in time for the clash against defending champions http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the upcoming Premier League clash. The Blues will travel to Blackpool on Monday and Crainey is hopeful he can recover
from his ankle injury in time.
The Blackpool fullback has missed the last six Premier League fixtures after picking up an ankle injury in January. Being an important part of the team, his absence was felt by Blackpool in the league as they failed to climb up the table, currently sitting
at 15th position.
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway will also be hoping to have the experienced 29-year-old available for the match against fourth place Chelsea. Crainey revealed he has returned to training and would be involved in an upcoming reserve game after which his involvement
against Chelsea would be decided.
Crainey said while speaking to reporters, “Hopefully if I get a good week's training in I will be available. It has been really hard because I have enjoyed the season so far and I was gutted to get injured, but I want to get back in the mix of things.”
Crainey remained confident of his side’s chances of improving, he continued, “We are still in a great position and hopefully we can get the points to secure our status, we have the players to do that and everyone is looking forward to giving it their all.”
Yossi Benayoun close to return
Recent reports reveal former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 midfielder Yossi Benayoun is close to his return. The Israeli International arrived at Stamford Bridge during the summer for a transfer fee of £5.5 million, but was out for the better part of the season. The 30-year-old
picked up an Achilles injury in September and has been sidelined since then.
However, Chelsea captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 was certain Benayoun still had a lot to offer and revealed that the midfielder had returned to training. This means it will only be a little while until Benayoun returns to full fitness and is able to feature for the Blues
in what’s left of the season.
The Chelsea skipper said while speaking to the media, “It is good to see Yossi back training outside, which is great for him and the team. Hopefully, he'll return to full training soon and be back in contention because he is a really important player for
us.”
With the Blues in contention for the Champions League, Benayoun’s return will be important for the Blues. His experience will definitely help Carlo Ancelotti’s side in establishing a strong hold in midfield, something that has been lacking from the Chelsea
side recently.
