Blackrose Ned wins January 375 race at Mildenhall
As a joint favourite runner with 2 to 1 starting price, Blackrose Ned elegantly won the Grade OR January 375m category on January 15 at Mildenhall race track.
The exultant dog accomplished the victory with a huge margin of 3 ¾ lengths by beating his opponents including Mountjoy Comet, Cals Lonely, Hound Dog, Market Rebel and Belvedere Flyer.
The break call came at 14:45 with Blackrose Ned breaking from trap 3. Displaying immense aggression form the very outset, the son of Hondo Dingle led soon.
After taking the lead, he continued to increase his speed till maintaining a wide distance from the back runners.
Trained by E.J. Cantillon, he managed to reach the finish line in 23.20 seconds. The gifted dog has been on an excellent winning streak, since his debut which in April 2010.
This time around, the imposing triumph was evident of Blackrose Ned’s professional capability, which has made him a favourite runner among the bookmakers.
The dog was whelped in May 2008 and his trainer believes that he will be able to win some more events before retiring.
The second spot went to Mountjoy Comet, who tried to challenge Blackrose Ned, but got baulked soon.
Afterwards, he wasn’t able to regain the lost momentum and lagged 3 ¾ lengths behind. The son of Ballymac Maeve reached the finish line in 23.49 seconds.
Despite being a joint favourite with Blackrose Ned, the brindle dog could not show satisfactory performance. His trainer, R J Holloway, did not seem to be happy with him.
Whelped in June 2009, the dog made his debut in May 2011. It was for the first time that he finished second. He posed to be enough efficient in the starting days of his career, winning first five races marvellously.
Cals Lonely was the runner to finish third in the race, with a huge difference of 3 lengths. The black and white dog broke from trap 1, with a mediocre pace he hardly challenged the front two, as he wound down the distance in 23.72 seconds.
The son of Droopys Vieri exhibited a clear run throughout the time. Whelped in December 2008, he is trained by J M Liles.
At the end of the race, Blackrose Ned walked away with £150, while each of the others received £20.
