  1. i think the more curved blades are for stickhandeling/ puck controll. also, i believe they give more loft to a shot. so i would suggest some thing with less of a curve

    Good Luck!

  2. im a defensman and i use and LOVE the sakic curve (only in easton). since it has a really open toe its great for getting lift on slapshots and when you want to clear it, it goes higher than anyone can grab! the only problem is when you try to backhand it out of the zone it doesn't work that well because an open toe isnt good for backhanders. but u can work around it. hope this helps!!

  3. your not going to want a big curve probaly an Iginla

  4. This is all preference, but i think you tend to use less curve as a defenseman.

If you want what you think of as a kindof 'normal' stick you can get the cruve 'mid' (in the middle of the blade and 'slight or moderate' moderate having more curve to it. then yoiu have 'open, slightly open or open' which refers to how much loft it has. if you are slapping from further out you want to have a lower loft unless you want to hit your team mates in the teeth.

ultimately its one of those preference things that you will work out best over time, i think you can adapt to any type of curve/loft to be honest. what you should do is find a local rink or shop where you can check them out and see what you like. its hard to explain without seeing asnd then go online and order.

i think normally people usually play around as they are learning the game buying a few types over time, and trying out team mates sticks, and anywhere else they casn find a stick to try and find what feels best. if you play and you are on a team try out some one on your team's stick and they should know or it should say on the stick what model it is and you can go online and it will tell you this model plus some number/playername i.e. 91A or Iginla and then you can look online at hockeygiant or something and it will tell you what cruve and loft it is.

  5. lidstrom and datsuk i think are pretty good. i have a nash and hate it. but its really all up to you

  6. I would try a toe curve, like the Lidstrom

  7. Okay- defenseman, defensive. You want a heel or mid curve (like the Lidstrom- it is nowhere close to a toe curve)

I would recommend a heel curve- not as great for stickhandling, but great for slapshots. Open face if you want them to go up, closed face if you block a lot of shots with the blade of your stick (you don't want them deflecting up into your net)

Easton: Drury (open) Forsberg (closed) Iginla (mid curve that can also stickhandle.

Look here to see what those look like so you can compare: http://hockeymonkey.com/easton-blades.ht...

But really, If you don't know you either have not played much before or have played with a flat bladed stick. Look at your current stick and find the blade pattern. It's often up near the handle. If you can't find it, look at the blade and compare it to the patterns of the stick you're looking at. Don't change it unless you don't feel comfortable with what you have.
