I am a recreational golfer with a borderline 18 handicap (i.e. I can play to 18, but that would be my best game). I love to play with blades and feel that that is the way the game was always meant to be played. I also think that many cavity backs look ugly. I get fed up with sneering comments from people that I'm playing way out of my depth. But cavity backs only really came in around the early 80s. Before that, through the 50s, 60s, 70s etc, what did beginners start with. Should I concede and (allegedly) make the game easier for myself or should I maintain my purist stance. I've never pretended to be a world class golfer by I feel self conscious when I get that look from other players which sort of says "You? Blades? Are you having us on?"
