Blagovest Kisyov beats Anton Kaisti in Men’s Singles qualifying round: 2011 Bulgarian International
Bulgaria’s Blagovest Kisyov cheered the local crowd as he booked his spot in the Men’s Singles main round after beating Finland’s Anton Kaisti in the qualifying round of the 2011 Bulgarian International, in Bulgaria, on Thursday, October 6.
Kisyov lived up to the expectations of home fans as he delivered a wonderful performance against the Finnish shuttler in a thrilling rubber-set fight which took 40 minutes. Kaisti tried his best to get rid of his local opponent, but failed to dominate the
game in the third set and lost the match.
The Bulgarian took the first set without facing any problem as he played superb badminton. However, the Finnish levelled the match by taking the second game after a close fight. In the final game, Kisyov managed to play well in the concluding part and emerged
as the winner.
The opening game was one-sided as Kisyov played at his best, while Kaisti failed to find his flow. The Bulgarian was floating in the court without any trouble and took an early lead of 11-5 in the first-half.
After taking a break for 60 seconds, Kisyov continued his superb run in the opening game and won the opening set in wonderful fashion by a 21-9 margin in just 9 minutes.
In the second set, Kaisti made the home crowd silent as he delivered a remarkable performance by playing on a different level. He was in no mood to slow down the speed of the game throughout the set. The score was close until the interval when Kaisti was
ahead of the local challenger at 11-9.
After the break, Kisyov continued making unforced errors which helped his rival to stretch his lead. The local player lost the second game by a three-point difference of 18-21 in 16 minutes.
Both players remained neck-to-neck until the ending points of the deciding game. Kisyov got motivation from the support of the home crowd and took the set with a 21-17 score in 15 minutes. This 40 minute battle ended with the win of Kisyov with a 21-9, 18-21
and 21-17 score.
