Blake Adams shares the fourth spot at the TPC River Highlands
Blake Adams recorded a six-under par 64 in the second round of the Travelers Championship at the TPC River Highlands, in Cromwell, to tie for the fourth place, prior to the heavy showers of rain that forced the game into suspension, on Friday, June 22, 2012.
Through the sixth hole, he was level par for the round following two birdies against the same number of bogeys.
Thereafter, he picked some pace and sank another six birdies to settle two strokes behind the leader, Fredrik Jacobson.
“Made some silly bogeys here and there and finally kind of cut those out and made a nice little run,” Adams said.
At the end of the round, he looked really happy, especially when he finished with a birdie on the final hole.
“It was a nice one to end on, probably about a foot,” he said. “Foot putt for a birdie is always a nice way to end your day, and hopefully I'll just take it through the next two days”.
According to him, the course layout really suited his style of playing and he loves to appear in the event each year. The last edition of the tournament witnessed him record a top-10 finish in 2011.
“It's a fantastic golf course. Greens are absolutely perfect,” he said. “Great, great make speed, and you know, I had some nice little tap-ins coming in and it was a nice day. It's a nice layout for me. I like it. It's a laid-back atmosphere, kind of like
I am, and go and just make birdies”.
By and large, it was a great round posted by Adams, as he had the best second-round score on the leaderboard.
He now looks confident to enter the final two rounds, with the aim of recording the first professional victory of his career.
In the meantime, Stuart Appleby and Roland Thatcher also joined him by posting a similar score. Charley Hoffman and Nathan Green took the second place with an eight-under par overall score each.
Both the players still have to complete their second rounds, as they were on their way when the game was interrupted by the inclement weather.
