Blake Griffin, Randy Foye lead Los Angeles Clippers to a 109-94 win over Sacramento Kings: NBA Recap
On Saturday night, Blake Griffin answered DeMarcus Cousins’ taunts with the ball, scoring 27 points and hauling down 14 rebounds, as the Los Angeles Clippers thumped the Sacramento Kings, 109-94.
What Griffin was doing inside the paint, Randy Foye did outside it. The Clippers guard knocked home 7 for 9 from the three point range on his way to 25 points as the Clips won for the 8th time in the last 9 contests.
They are now just one game away from the third placed Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference.
Not to be left behind, Chris Paul also had a super night. CP3 was just sensational scoring 19 points, distributing the ball 15 times and making a staggering seven steals.  Caron Butler also scored 12 for LAC, which nearly shot
50 percent from the floor.
Cousins, who was fined $25,000 by the NBA on Friday, and made a public rant against Griffin, calling him an actor, was not that bad himself with 15 points and 20 rebounds, both team highs. He maintained physical contacts with Griffin
throughout the game and even tried to trip him once, however the Clippers dunking machine kept his composure and never allowed the situation to boil out of control.
When reminded about Cousin’s remarks after the game; Griffin was dismissive;
"I mean this in the nicest possible way, you have to consider the source," Griffin said. "If this is somebody that really has been in this league a long time and really knows the ins and outs of the game, and he ... has a great
reputation for carrying himself the right way, that's something that I would look at and go, `I really rubbed this guy the wrong way.' But something like that, you just keep going."
LAC made a fast start and were leading by seven at the midway stage of the first quarter. A 10-0 run highlighted by two three pointers from Foye and a spectacular alley oop flush by Griffin took the lead to 27-14. The Kings responded
with seven points on a trot and trailed by 22-29 after one.
Griffin and Foye combined for a 12-6 start to the second and stretched the lead to 13, 41-28. The Kings, who were playing without their leading scorer Marcus Thornton for the third starlight game, bounced back after that and reduced
the Clippers lead to just five points, 56-51, at the half.
Butler and Foye gave the Clips some breathing space to start the third, but the Kings kept coming back and a Francisco Garcia three deep made it a one point game, 71-72.
Two three pointers from Foye however formed the starting and exclamation points of a 16-5 Clippers run, bridging the third and the fourth quarter and the Clippers never looked back again.
