Blake Griffin confident that Los Angeles Clippers are headed forward – NBA Update
Los Angeles Clippers sensational forward Blake Griffin is confident that the team will continue to progress this coming NBA season. The super star said he had confidence in the ability of his teammates as well in the franchise
to pickup from where they left off and get a winning season under their belt after years.
Senior Clippers player Mo Williams has even boasted that the Clippers are already a much better team thanks to the experience gained last season and emergence of a number of young talents. Williams went as far as to guarantee that
the Clippers will qualify for the playoffs in the upcoming shortened NBA season 2011-2012 and Griffin is backing the side to do so as well.
"I'm behind him because as a team, we all believe in every single one of our guys. That's our goal as a team and we have to believe that," Griffin said of Williams' boast in an interview published by ESPN. "Right now we're healthy
and we got a lot of good pieces and I think we're confident from where we were last year."
Griffin is the biggest weapon at Los Angeles’ disposal. The forward had a thrilling season last time out when he won the NBA slam dunk contest in his rookie year. Blake also made the All-Star game and won the Rookie of the Year
award. In doing so, he has instantly established himself as a household name in the NBA and helped register the Clippers as a team with aspirations for next season.
He isn’t the only bright spot in the Clippers locker room though, as the team has quite a few up and coming youngsters to call upon.
Blake is confident that as the young stars of Los Angeles spend more and more time together, they will only become better. He also suggested that a shortened and more congested season could work in their advantage as they had youth
on their side.
"The more practice and the more time we have together gives us obviously more of an advantage," he said, "but at the same time being youthful and having all those games in such a short amount of time, hopefully it works to our
advantage having fresh legs and younger guys."
Los Angeles Clippers will need a big contribution from Griffin if they are to challenge at the level the team is aiming to do. They would also require valuable input from senior members like Williams and centre Chris Kaman, although
rumours before the NBA lockout linked him with a move away from Los Angeles.
There has not been any word on that front in recent days but the Clippers are actively looking to enhance their options by courting various free agents, including veteran small forward Caron Butler, who won the NBA World Championship
last season with the Dallas Mavericks.
