Blake Griffin keeps himself busy during the Lockout – NBA Update
As the lockout continues, many players are considering moving to either the European or Asian leagues. Blake Griffin, however, has shown no interest as of yet and is reportedly keeping himself busy during this break.
On Tuesday, Blake Griffin hosted his first ever basketball camp for children in Oklahoma City. After the event, he retreated to his own personal space and engaged in a one hour training session.
Griffin has kept himself busy throughout the summer and has been busy featuring for various sponsors after his Slam Dunk contest victory, where he jumped over the bonnet of a car to land the honour. Blake has also worked out on
a regular basis since the end of last season.
"I haven't stopped working out really since May," Griffin said recently. "It's been every day, sneaking it in whenever I can."
He was also not hesitant to reveal his disappointment over the prospect of missing an entire slate of 82 games this year. Griffin had already missed the entire 2009/10 season after suffering a broken knee cap injury.
"Now my first three seasons, I could play 82 games," Griffin stated. "So, we'll see what happens."
After the recent meeting between David Stern and the players failed miserably and no development on the collective bargaining agreement took place, David Stern stated that he was no longer optimistic regarding the lockout situation.
However, Griffin still managed to extract a hint of positivity from the whole incident and said he hoped that things will only take a turn for the better now. He added that things will at least move faster as the season comes closer
and remained certain that a solution ought to be received by the time the season dawns.
Meanwhile, Griffin has kept his focus firmly on the NBA and has prepared hard, so that he can continue from where he left off when the season does start.
"You just stay ready really, that’s really all I can do _ pace myself, stay ready," Griffin said. "I have to take a little time off every now and then to make sure your body's going to be fresh, because you can't be working out
for six months straight. It is tough, but at the same time you've got to put in the work."
According to Griffin, he has been extremely committed towards improving his overall game, especially his shooting, and stated that he wanted to be an even better player than last year. The Clippers star is mainly recognized by
his dunking ability and he said that his desire was to be recognized as a player who can just about do anything on the court.
Blake won the Rookie of the year award last season and was the frontrunner with 22.5 points per game and 12.1 rebounds per game. He also became the first rookie All Star, after Yao Ming achieved the feat in 2003.
