Blake Griffin says he is fully recovered, looking towards next season – NBA News
Blake Griffin is a talented young basketball player, who has captured the imagination of fans all over the NBA with his high flying dunks and athleticism. More than that, he is the future of the Los Angeles Clippers, who are now genuine playoff contender and are coming off a very successful 2011-2012 campaign which saw them reaching the Western Conference Semi Finals.
The coming season is expected to be an even more successful one for the Clippers, as Chris Paul grows comfortable with his new team and they have more time to play together. However, their campaign for the next season was dealt a serious blow when Griffin suffered a knee injury during training camp for the U.S basketball team in Las Vegas.
Griffin was on the preliminary roster for the London Olympics but became unavailable after injury, causing him to miss his first Olympics appearance. It is not the first time that Griffin has suffered a knee injury. He sat out his full first season in the NBA with the same problem, and the recurrence of the injury is troubling and worrisome to say the least.
However, Griffin was all smiles when he talked to the Los Angeles Times on Friday, saying that he is back to 100% and the injury is past him.
“I came back after surgery and started rehabbing and getting back into it. I’ve been shooting and lifting [weights] and all that for a while now. So, I’m pretty much back at 100%, been back at 100% for a little bit. So I’m good,” said Griffin.
Griffin has been warned by many analysts and commentators to consider the tremendous beating his body takes when he goes for his monster slams. He is a very aggressive player who likes to attack the rim, but his body pays the price for it and this style of play is not sustainable.
Griffin is young and in the early parts of what might turn out to be an amazing and illustrious career. However, he needs to be more careful with his body if he wants to prolong his career, and remain available for the team in the most critical of times.
