Blake Griffin says he never tries to play an intimidating game – NBA Update
Blake Griffin is gaining a reputation of being an aggressive and intimidating player in the NBA. The Los Angeles Clippers forward has been dunking over the whole NBA, including players like Kendrick Perkins and Pau Gasol. His aggressive dunking style has helped him create a certain reputation for himself.
However, Blake Griffin disagrees. According to “ProBasketballTalk”, Blake said that it is never his intention to purposely intimidate any one nor does he make an effort to come out as intimidating. He admitted that his game has a certain level of aggressiveness to it, but said that is the way he plays naturally. This is how his game has developed and he is most comfortable playing in that manner.
“Intimidating, that’s not something I consciously go out and try to do.  As far as being physical, that’s just a part of my game. I don’t try really hard to be physical but it’s just a part of my game and I’m not going to shy away from it” said the Clippers forward.
Blake also said that a physical game goes to his advantage because his natural game is very physical and such situations bring out the best in him.
Basketball is a very physical game and as the games get tougher and the match-ups become critical, we see players getting physical on the court and fighting for each possession and each play. However, this is not to say that it is wrong on their part to do it. It is a game not for the weak-hearted or weak bodied.
Penetration, rebounding, layups are all aspects of the game which require a certain level of body contact and players who are physically more powerful and confident with their physicality are often better suited for these roles.
Blake further went on to say that he does not think anyone in the NBA is intimidated of his fellow colleagues, neither does anyone try to intimidate. He personally believes that all the players that get the opportunity to play in the NBA are very talented and their talent forces others to respect them for the skills they have.
“Not really, I really don’t think there is intimidation in the NBA.  A lot of these guys in the NBA are so talented you kind of have a mutual respect for guys and you know what guys can do and can’t do and you just try to play them the best you can” said Blake.
With all the focus and attention on Blake Griffin and the fact that every move he makes is commented upon, Griffin says that he is not distracted by any of these issues. He is fully focused on improving himself as a player and working with his team to improve their defence in order to have a better chance of going for a long playoff run.
The Clippers are in battle for the Pacific Division title with the L.A Lakers and whoever loses the contest will host the charging Memphis Grizzlies in the first round.
