Blake Young gets debut MotoGP ride with Attack Performance Racing - MotoGP news
Attack Performance Racing will feature Blake Young as their CRT rider in the upcoming MotoGP season.
“Yeah, he is committed to riding our CRT bike. We are just waiting to iron out some of the details,” owner of Attack Performance Racing owner Richard Stanboli said while talking to roadracingsworld.com.
Stanboli further said, “We have agreed to term. I have shot a contract over to Chuck [Young’s Manager]. And once that is signed, we’ll make an official announcement.”
The 25-year-old will be riding Attack Performance Racing’s CRT bike as a wild card entry. Young will compete in Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas at Austin, U.S Grand Prix at Laguna Seca
and Indianapolis Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Although 2013 will be Young’s first experience in the MotoGP arena, still he has a lot of experience in the motorcycle racing world. Young was AMA Pro Superbike Championship runner for two
consecutive seasons. In the most recent season of AMA Pro Superbike, Young challenged to claim the title from Josh Hayes. Of course he could not manage it but Young’s riding techniques and on-track energy was outstanding. He needs to show same kind of energy
in his debut MotoGP season.
Yoshimura Suzuki, Young’s Superbike team, refused to renew his contract for 2013, leaving young unemployed. Stanboli has signed Young at such a time and has high hopes concerning Young.
“It’s kind of a shame that he is not riding full time this year. But it’s to our advantage because I think we can really use a guy like that to better our effort,” Stanboli said.
Recently, Attack Performance Racing have done a lot of work on their CRT bike to make it optimum for the upcoming season. Alterations such as a different billet aluminium chassis have been
made to the bike since the last season.
According to Stanboli, Young may make his first appearance on the Attack Performance Racing’s CRT bike in a test at the Chuckwalla Valley Raceway. After the test, a one-day tire test is also
scheduled by Bridgestone. The tire test will be held at Circuit of the Americas next month.
