Blank monitor when turning on computer

Question

When I turn on my computer, the monitor is blank but the green light is on. When I turn the monitor off and then back on it works fine but it is annoying to have to do this everytime I turn the computer on. Any suggestions on what the problem is. My monitor is about 4 years old and this problem just started a couple of months ago.
