So, you read the title. Here's the scoop:

My girlfriends sister put bleach & water into one of those portable gas tank fillers to put in her ex boyfriends car. Stupid, I know. Well, I assume she had a change of heart or something, and chose not to do it. Unfortunetly, she forgot to empty the tank out. You can see where this is going... My girlfriends mom used it the other day because she needed some gas to get to the gas station, unknowingly putting bleach & water into her tank. She got to work, but the car died when she got there, she thought because lack of gasoline. I put gas in the tank, tried starting it, and it wouldnn't turn over, just click, so I figured it was the starter. I recently did mine @ 140k miles, and her cars @ 140k miles, so it was an easy assumption. Later on before I get the starter, my girlfriends sister tells her mom to not use the portable gas tank because it has bleach water in it... Too late.

My friend said the bleach is corrosive, and will wear/eat @ all the inside parts of the engine. What the h**l do we do? I can get it towed to a mechanic because I have AAA, but I doubt they can afford to fix it. Anyone have any ideas what will happen to the car/what has already happened to the car?

Thanks in advance...

  1. do all the other things that were suggested but there is one other thing you can do that may help ,take out the spark plugs and squirt a liberal amount of marvel mystery oil into each cylinder, try to coat the walls and leave a puddle in the bottom if the engin is frozen it may help to free it up

  2. sounds like yo hydrolocked the engine the water is in the cylinders and wont allow the pistons to move you will probaly have to take it to a shop where they can remove the spark plugs and turn the engine over to remove the water they will probally have to remove the gas tank and flush out the entire fuel system

  3. have them drop the gas tank, clean it out, and flush out the system.should be find, as it want be in there that long..they have additives to put back in once its cleaned out. Since it died, it might have seized the motor..if so..its going to need one.

  4. Clean and flush now fast!!. After that, you're stuck with what went through the engine.

P.S. The action might be a criminal offense where you live????
