Bleach has ruined my hair!?

My hair is naturally a dark blonde colour, so over the years I've been having blonde highlights put in. But I made the mistake of goin too blonde and putting bleach in it. My hair is quite coarse anyway so it couldn't cope with the bleach and it went in real bad condition and bits even started snapping near the front! so ive dyed it back to a light brown now but its still not in good condition and nothing like how it used to be, its really dry, brittle and a lot thinner than it used to be. is there anything i can do to make it better. i use a leave in conditioner but it doesnt help much!

  1. You need to use several hot oil treatments.  You will also need to cut your hair as short as possible and don't don't put any chemicals back in your hair for at least six months.  Find a cute short haircut that suits you and let your hair grow back out healthy.  And never do that again.  I did it too and I know how it feels.

  2. go to your hairdresser and explain the problem and see what they can give you.

as someone said why don't you use shampoo for people with afro's and stuff, that should help

  3. Get Matrix smoothing shampoo and cond, Do at least one deep conditioner a week try Hair Masque by Bed Head. Always apply product before blow drying and serum before flat ironing. Be sure to also get it cut.

  4. I suggest cutting it short, buying shampoo and conditioner for dyed hair, and letting it grow out.  Try to avoid blow-drying, flat irons, or really any amount of heat on your hair until it grows out.  Also avoid tight, thin pony-tails.  If your hair is long and unruly and you don't want to cut it then style it in a loose french braid or use big clips to keep it out of your face.  But don't promote breakage.

While it's growing out you can try to maintain moisture in your hair with mayonaise masks in your hair (pretty much layering mayo carefully throughout your hair and letting it sit for 20 minutes,) rinsing your hair with raw eggs (before shampoo, for protein) and making sure to never bleach your hair and then dye it right after again.  You are lucky you didn't end up with boils and scars on your scalp.

  5. My mom did that too, went too far with the bleach! You have to chop it off!

  6. been there done that. i lost all elasticity in my hair twice from bleach. what i did was get products meant for a black persons' hair. it supplies alot of moisture to the hair. i would also try sally beauty supply and ask them.

  7. Nexxus Keraphix and Joico K-Pak are excellent reconstructors.

  8. If only hair would grow out of our heads.............

    oh wait...............
