Bleaching colored pants.?

Question

I have a pair of forest green cotton pants that gota great big bleach spot on them. Right now they are sitting in a dish pan in a strong bleach bath 50% bleach added with 50% cool water. They been in for about 45 minutes and the color is fading from them. How long is too long to avoid damage to the 100% cotton material? I will be re-dying them a different color once they become light enough to do so.

it should only take a few minutes. once its done bleaching you need to throw it in the washer, or the bleach will continue to work and turn the pants yellow. and start to eat away at the cotton.
