Bleaching light / medium brown hair?

I thought about going a little bit lighter. And I dont want Orange hair. Would it turn Orange?

  1. It will depend on exactly where your hair starts out on the level scale. The darker the hair the more orange you are going to see before it gets into blond. Hair has to lift through different stages. This is why doing this at home is not a good idea. You need to lift it to the desired LEVEL then tone out the unwanted pigments. For example if you are wanting to go from a med brown to a dark blond you will lift it 2 levels then tone out the unwanted yellow-gold with a violet/blue toner and you will end up with a very pretty dark blond. The canceling tones have to be in direct proportion to the undesired tones or you will end up too ashy or too gold. It's a tricky tricky process and is why stylists charge a large sum for this type of thing. This is assuming you have color already on your hair. Lifting color and toning falls under "corrective color". This is a specialty and not many stylists are actually GOOD at it. If the color you are lifting is your natural color, then you have it easy. Just use a regular color, but be careful what you pick.
