Bleeding after childbirth??

How long does the bleeding last? I am on day 16 and some days it will be really light and I'm like "woo hoo it's going to stop!" and when I get up in the middle of the night it's heavy again like a period.

Also, just out of curiousity.....how many of you needed stitches on the inner labia?? I had to have mine just right on the inside of my v****a and now that they're healing I can feel the scar tissue. I am just wondering if this will be sensitive when I can have s*x with my husband again and if he will be able to feel the scar tissue.....it's kinda weird! lol

  1. You will be bleeding for about over a month

  2. I bled for about 6 weeks.

  3. I bled off and on for maybe 3 weeks.  It was the same for me, I kept thinking it was going to stop, then it would surprise me.

    I had a C section, so I can't answer your second question!

  4. well i was bleeding for a little over 2 months before i stopped then finally got my first period and lol  i felt the same way as you with the whole getting lighter and woo hoo its going away and then bam its back heavy again

  5. I bled for 5 wks.  Baby will be 9 wks on Monday and still no period.  I didn't have stiches and had 3 kids so can't help ya there but as for that 1st time having s*x after baby, it can be scary but I had no probs.  Just me being period but it was all in my head.  Relax, I think you'll be fine.

  6. The reason your starting to bleed heavier is becuase you think, 'woo hoo it's going to stop!' so you don't take it slow; the increased movement is causing the bleeding to get heavier.

I only bled for 2 weeks; but I made sure I took it easy and didn't do a lot of physical activity so it would stop completely.

I suggest relaxing and taking it easy until the bleeding stops, then continue with regular physical activities ..

I had an epesiotomy, but not sure how many stitches I got; I asked this question repeadely but for some reason the (on-call) Doctor that delivered my son didn't write it in my chart.

  7. I bled for 2 weeks and now I am back on my period again.

  8. your only on your second week darlin. I bled for 8 weeks, its really tricky and makes you believe it will stop.

I had a stitch, which I can feel the scar tissue, no problems with s*x here and my fiance hasn't said anything about it.

  9. I bled about a month, lighter and lighter until it dropped off. It is called LOCHIA to bleed postpartum if you want to do more reading on ti.

  10. I bled for six weeks and started my period again at nine weeks. I had a c-section so I really wouldn't know the answer to the rest.

  11. Mine stopped at 5 weeks post, and then my period came at 7 weeks!

  12. I bled for almost 8 weeks with my first and 6 weeks with my second. On the first I tore in many places and had to have stitches. The first few times having s*x after birth was tender and we just had to take it slow. As far as my hubby being able to tell a difference he really couldn't feel anything. Visually it looked a little different than before pushing a human out of it but it doesn't actually change the s*x! good luck and congratulations!

  13. My mom just had a baby 4 months ago, and the nurse said about 3-4 weeks after. but you cant drive for like, 6-8 weeks.

  14. CONGRATS ON THE NEW BABY!  VERY EXCITING!!!

My OBGYN said you need to make up for 9 months of NOT bleeding.  I have been bleeding for the past 4 WEEKS (I have a four month old baby :)

I wouldn't worry unless you are cramping REALLY bad AND/OR passing clots of blood larger than a quarter.

  15. I bled for 3 months straight!!!  So I know how you feel :)  Like Mark's Wife said, take it easy and that will help.

Also, if you are still bleeding at 6 weeks make sure you let your dr. know.  I was still bleeding, like I mentioned, it turned out to be a whole slew of medical problems which resulted in surgery.  I am sure you are just fine, two weeks post-delivery is normal.

  16. I bled for 2-3 weeks. I didn't have any scar tissue (that I can feel anyhow). You may be a little tender the first time during s*x, but it's not painful, just take it slow. I had an episiotomy and tearing and it took about 3 months for the area to feel completely back to normal. Definitely wait at least 5 weeks to have s*x again, and ask your doctor about the scar tissue at your follow, but I doubt your husband will be able to feel it. And try doing kegels everyday, it really helps!
