Bleeding after giving birth normal?

I gave birth on 27th July and lost very little blood. This was my second birth. Obviously i know its normal to bleed for several weeks after but i didnt. For 3 weeks i bled very little, almost like the end of a period. Then it stopped. Now for the past few days im pouring with blood and leaking through everything. I wear super thick pads but it doesnt seem to help. Im also clotting loads which didnt happen after the birth.

I just wondered if this was normal a month after the birth as it shud have happened straight away?

  1. I would call your OB and just make sure that bleeding that bad after hardly anything is normal.

  2. Talk to your midwife. She will check that everything was accounted for in your notes and there were no retained products. Unlikely as usually problems arise quite soon after. It maybe a first period but unlikely. Talk to the midwife.

  3. If you are filling more than a pad and hour you need to call your doctor.
