Bleeding after s*x? ?

What does it mean when you bleed after s*x. Until yesterday i was a virgin and than i did it with my bf for the first time. Afterwords i realized i was bleeding. He didn't know because we were in the dark so yea and i didn't want him to freak out so i didn't let him know. I'm not on my period because i am using that birth control shot. It is natural when it is your first time? I'm just confused about it. a little advice please!!!

Around the vaginal opening is a piece of skin called the hymen, and usually, but not always, the hymen gets torn, and it's called "popping the cherry" because blood escapes when that happens.  It's nothing to worry about though.  It's very much natural and is basically eminent to happen.
