Question:

Bleeding in my ears and nose?

Let me start from the beginning: Approx. two years ago, I started getting watery stuff stuck in my ears. I got constant earaches and couldn't hear in one ear periodically. Starting this year, my ears started to bleed. I started cleaning out my ears with a tissue every morning to pick up some of the watery stuff and blood, but this summer I got lazy and stopped cleaning my ears. They ache every once in a while, but i've pretty much gotten used to my ears popping every time I swallow. The bleeding stopped in my ears, too, for some reason. [and no, I wasn't sticking the tissue deep down in my ear. I just stuck my pinky into the opening a bit]

Now, i've been getting nosebleeds more frequently. They're random, and the blood is always gushing out of my nose. My dad thinks i'm picking my nose and making it bleed or something but that's just WRONG, plus it wouldn't be gushing out, would it?

This recent week that i've been going back to school, i've been up in the morning and I usually open the window for the cat to look out, which makes me sneeze so I take allergy medicine. Well, when i'm wiping my nose, just a little bit of blood will come out each time, but it's not a long nosebleed anymore.

What could all of this be??!?

  1. Your sinuses, nasal passages and even your eustachian tube could be dried out or irritated.  What I would do is get OCEAN ULTRA, it's a nasal mist that you spray into your nose and will keep the mucus membranes from drying out.  Especially when you sleep.  When you wake up in the morning (before you open the window), spray the Ocean Ultra in your nose, do this a couple more times each day.  See if it gets better.

  2. If the onset of your symptoms coincided with you getting the cat and because you mentioned that you already have allergies, i'd say that an allergic reaction to cat hairs is causing your ear and nose problems.

If you've had the cat longer than two years or if your symptoms started long after you got it, then you probably have an ear infection which has started to affect the membranes lining your nose.

If it's not the cat, then see your doctor; a simple course of tetracycline antibiotics should clear up these symptoms.
