Question:

Bleeding underneath skin?

I was taking a nail out of the wall and tried to pull it out with my hand but it was still not loose enough. In doing so, I hurt my finger and a red spot soon appeared. I was bleeding under the skin. My finger hurts a bit... what should I do now? Should I try to make a small gash to draw out blood or shall I just leave it as it is? I hope it's nothing serious! Please help.

  1. Sounds like a bruise to me - I got a nasty blood blister one time I was trying to change a tire and smashed my finger.  It hurts and it looks wierd; if you like, you can ice it a little (use ice water, don't leave your finger in it more than 10 minutes at a time).  You'll be fine.  Don't cut your finger open, that will increase the risk of infection.

  2. Honey it is just a bruise... That is what happens when you get one, it is bleeding under the skin and your blood will coagulate on its own if you are not a "bleeder".

  3. This is a blood blister. Just leave it alone the blood will dry and disperse on it's own. Just show it off as a war wound.

  4. i no wat u mean

its really red but try leaving it 4 a couple of days n then c

    u will slowly dissappear!!!

  5. When you bleed underneath the skin, it's called a bruise.

    You're fine.

  6. Don't try to draw blood from the wound. What you have is a contusion (bruise) although it looks red because it is closer to the skin surface than a typical bruise. Put some ice on it and wrap it with gauze, if it has an open area apply some triple antibiotic ointment (Neosporin).
