Question:

Bleeding with Mirena?

I just had Mirena inserted last Wednesday(so only on it for a week) and I know one of the "side effects" is bleeding. My spotting is a bit weird, though. It started this Monday when I woke up and was gone by around 6 PM that day. Tuesday was the same way and so far it seems like today is too. I'm going back for a follow up with my OB next week so I'll ask her about it then but in the mean time has anyone had anything similar? It's not even enough to fill a whole panty liner.

  1. I spotted on and off for a week or two.

Unfortunately, I was one of the unlucky few who had a (normal) period while I had it too.

  2. I had at least some spotting EVERY DAY FOR THREE MONTHS.  It was so bad that I had to have it removed.  I've heard from a lot of other women that loved it, though.

  3. i def. did not..I got it put in when on my period and then it stopped 2 days later..then I got my period june 8th stopped june 11th and have not had one since..you probably just have to get used to it though.

  4. Ok let me just give you some information on the Mirena.... I got mine in back in December.. They say you could have bleeding or spotting up to 6 weeks. But please if it last longer then that go to your doctor!!! I bled for 6 months before the doctor actually wanted to do something about it.. They did a internal ultrasound on me and found out it was in the wrong spot.. My doctor said since I got in put in 6 weeks after delivering my child that my cervix probably wasn't healed like it should have been and this is why I bled the entire time for 6 months. Miserable! I hope no one goes through that again! They took it out 2.5 months ago and I am getting it back in Monday... So Good luck just remember anything over 6 weeks talk with you doctor!!!

  5. Mine was  a constant period for about 2 weeks but very light and then it went away and came back spontaneously the next month.Every woman is different and your body handles things in different ways..I'd say your fine though..doesn't sound too serious. But if your truly want piece of mind check out the mirena website- It helped me alot..Good luck and hope this helps..
