Blender 3d python help?

Question

i'm trying to learn blender python but everytime i test a script i always get an error. most recently i did this

"import GameLogic

co = GameLogic.getCurrentController()"

and got an GameLogic is not defined.

also what is supposed to be at the end of a script. the footer?

can anyone help me directly, and not with off topic python tutorials.
