Blind Luck breezed 5 furlongs at Hollywood Park, as she prepares herself for 1 October
Easily the best older horse running out right now, Blind Luck, the 4-year-old filly skipped the Pacific Classic and many others in the last month to stay focused, and train for the Grade 1 Lady’s Secret on 1 October, 2011, at Santa Anita Park.
The Eclipse Award winning filly, turned in five furlongs on 14 September at Hollywood Park, and went on to complete the distance in a fiery 59.20 seconds.
Trained by Jerry Hollendorfer for Mark Dedomenico, Blind Luck’s workout was the fastest among 39 others on that day, on the same distance of five furlongs and the same all-weather cushion track.
The daughter of Pollard Vision, out of Lucky One by Best of Luck, Blind Luck has been turning in speedy workout sessions, looking eager to get back on track and do what she does best.
This was Blind Luck’s second workout session ahead of the Lady’s Secret at Santa Anita, and her last workout consisted of four furlongs, easily and speedily covered in 47 2/5 seconds, also at Hollywood Park under the watchful eye of trainer Jerry Hollendorfer.
The Hall of Fame trainer is still open to options, as he is looking to start the six time grade 1 winner in either the Lady’s Secret at Santa Anita, over a distance of 1 1/16 miles, or the Grade 1 Beldame Invitational at Belmont Park.
Both races will be held on 1 October, 2011.
Blind Luck was nominated for the Personal Ensign and the Pacific Classic, but Hollendorfer did not want her filly to run against the colts at this point, and also because he did not want to ship Blind Luck across the country as both were Saratoga races.
The champion filly last ran in the Grade 2 Delaware Handicap on dirt at Delaware Park under jockey Garrett Gomez over a distance of 1 ¼ miles.
It was her archrival, Have de Grace, who got the taste of Blind Luck’s famous late surge, which helped the champion filly to stick in a neck to hit the wire ahead of her rival.
