Blind Luck turned her final work out at Hollywood Park ahead of the Lady’s Secret at Santa Anita Park
Blind Luck on 27 September, 2011, at Hollywood Park under the mare’s regular exercise rider, Marco Ramirez turned in a workout session of sharp half a mile in 47.60 seconds.
The 4-year-old mare, Blind Luck turned in her final work ahead of the Grade 1 Lady’s Secret Stakes on 1 October, 2011 at Santa Anita Park.
Coming off three straight wins, after a series of runner up finishes, 5 on the trot to be exact, Blind Luck will meet the California bred 5-year-old mare Ultra Bend, who too is in great from.
Trained by Art Sherman for owner Nels Erickson, Ultra Bend aced the Grade 1 Clement L. Hirsch at Del Mar on 6 August, 2011, over its synthetic surface at about 1 1/16 miles, in her last start.
Prior to the Clement L. Hirsch, Ultra Bend turned runner up performance twice, and winning a couple in too, with the season stats of 3 wins, 2 runner up positions and once rolled in third out of 6 starts.
On the other hand, Blind Luck has been tormenting Havre de Grace in close encounters, beating her four times out of 6 starts, will be looking use the Lady’s Secret as the prep race before the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic on 4 November, 2011, at Churchill
Downs.
There is every chance that this will not be the only meeting of the two mare’s, and after the Lady’s Secret Ultra Bend is also pointed to the Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic.
The daughter of Pollard’s Vision, out of Lucky One by Best of Luck, Blind Luck was briefly considered for the Pacific Classic at Del Mar, but trainer and co-owner Jerry Hollendorfer pulled her out of the race because he didn’t like how Blind Luck trained
there.
Hollendorfer reiterated that he will not run Blind Luck against the males, total opposite approach of her adversary, but she is content to run against fillies and mares, hence skipping the Breeders’ Cup Ladies classic.
Lady’s Secret is run over a distance of 1 1/16 miles, and it will be run on the Santa Anita dirt track reeling in 7 fillies.
