Blind Luck turns in a 4 furlong workout after 3 weeks at Hollywood
Blind Luck easily the best older horse running out right now and the 4-year-old bay filly turned in her first workout since 17 August, 2011, as she worked four furlongs in 47.40 seconds at Hollywood.
The pacey move was second best among 17 other works on 8 September, 2011, as she recorded an official work in more than three weeks.
Co-owner and trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said that the filly had been out on the tracks every morning, but Hollendorfer waited for the official workout because he said the filly did not care about the Poly Track at Del Mar.
The winner of six grade 1 races, Blind Luck would be pointed to either the Grade 1 Lady’s Secret run at Santa Anita or the Grade 1 Beldame at Belmont Park, both races are to be held on 1 October, 2011.
With the massive earnings of $3.2 million, the daughter of Pollard’s Vision is bidding for the 2011 Horse of the Year title, and another strong contender for that title is her arch rival Havre de Grace.
In her most recent race, Blind Luck went on to defeat Havre de Grace by a nose in the Grade 2 Delaware Handicap at Delaware Park on 16 July, 2011.
The race was run over a distance of 1 ¼ miles, under jockey Garrett Gomez, the filly closed in Havre de Grace from the rear to give the race a thrilling end and winning it with the time of 2 minutes and 1.20 seconds.
Havre de Grace showed her measure by winning the Grade 1 Woodward Stakes against males and consequently becoming a strong contender to achieve the title of Horse of the Year this year after her powerful performance.
The win came right after a painful defeat by her arch rival Blind Luck, and now both fillies are pretty even in terms of credentials this year.
The talented filly, Blind Luck, will have to grind out a result if it comes to that, in either of the races she is pointed to in October to re claim her position as the best horse around, if there are any doubts about her position after Havre de Grace’s
win over the males.
