We plan to contact the doc on tues, but I was just wondering in th meantime is it normal to have alot of drainage after eye removal surgery? My sister had what I guess they call a "partial" removal in which they "cleaned out" the eye and inserted a prosthesis, they then put a HUGE pressure bandage over the eye (looked like a tennis ball wrapped in bandages) and said not to remove the bandage till monday. They said there was NOTHING she needed to watch for other then a temp greater then 101. She had surgery on tues, and by thurs she began to have increased pain, we called the doc who Rx pain killers, later that evening it began draining & most of the pain went away. Its been draining since then. So has anyone been thru this? Is it normal?

  1. Since there's no fever, it's safe to assume that the drainage is normal and not caused by an infection. So yes, unless she develops a fever (which MAY be masked by her new painkillers) it's fine to wait until Tuesday.

  2. I haven't been through it, sorry.
