Blinking Yellow Light -Traffic Question?

If there is an intersection with a 4-way stop and 2 corners have a blinking yellow light and the other two have a blinking red light who's fault would it be if someone stopped at the blinking yellow light and someone else stopped at the blinking red light and nobody went so the person at the red blinking light decided to go after waiting a few minutes and the person at the yellow blinking light decided to go and hit them? I don't know if that makes much since written out but basically, I understand that the person with the yellow blinking light has the right of way but a blinking yellow light also means they have to YIELD. So if the person at the red blinking light sat there and waited for a good few minutes completely stopped and the person at the yellow blinking light wouldn't move. What would happen when the person at the yellow blinking light hit the other person after they decided to go? I had this discussion with a friend earlier and he argued with me on it. I'm just curious.

  1. The yellow light means, go slow. The red light acts as a stop sign. If you stopped at the yellow light, then you moved forward as the car on the red light went, you were wrong (but still had the right of way). The person at the red light assumed you were giving up the right of way. If someone hit you from behind, they are at fault.

  2. If the pesron at the blinking yellow chooses not to go then the person at the red has the right of way.  If an accident were to occur, you would know whose fault it was by who hit who.

Ex. the person who got hit in the side would not be at fault because they were farther than the person that got hit in the front.

  3. If the person at the blinking Yellow light does not go after the person at the red blinking light has stopped and been waiting then it is safe for the person at the red blinking light to go. The person at the yellow blinking light has given up the right of way and must wait for the person at the red blinking light to pass. If the person at the yellow blinking light decides to go and hits the person that was at the red blinking light it will be the person at the yellow blinking lights fault. They gave up the right of way and knew the other people were going to go.

  4. The person at fault would be the one that hit the car. You have to always be in control of your car. If they both collide at the same time I would say the person at fault was the one at the blinking red light. To be sure call your insurance agent.

  5. the person at the blinking yellow light went after the person at the blinking red light, right?  so the person who went second would be at fault...period.  if you hit somebody from a stopped situation (rear-ending somebody in stop & go traffic, t-boning somebody making a left turn out of a driveway, etc.) then it's your fault.  especially if the person was given ample opportunity to take the right of way and failed to do so, then not only are they at fault, they should go back to driving school.  there are very few situations when you are the innocent party of an auto accident when your car hits somebody else's car.
