My town's recycling instructions are: All plastic containers labeled (in triangles) 1-7 and NO plastic bags

  1. If it does not have any triangles on it then I would say no you can't recycle it. Since your town is only recycling things with the recycle code on them and this item doesn't have it you should just throw it out.  That is what they will do at the recycling center without the recycling triangles.

  2. The instructions are made to give people the guidelines for what to recycle and they are very specific as I read your question.

No triangle  - no recycling.  Reason being,  they have to recycle the items you bring to them... if all of the plastic is not designated recyclicable, they have to spend unnecessary time going through it all and picking out everything that is not on the list.

  3. Yes, but the trouble with most plastics is you need a sufficient amount of volume before someone is interested. If you have this as a personal waste from home and have curbside recycling put it in the bin. Let the waste company decide. If not then see if the local landfill will recycle. Good luck.
