Blizzard admits it messed up with Diablo 3 – Video Games Update
Fan rage and a rapidly reducing player count for Diablo 3 has forced Blizzard to admit that it has made many mistakes with Diablo 3 but the studio is now all ears to fan feedback and is actively working on improving the game through patches.
The chief executive of Blizzard, Mike Morhaime, revealed in an open letter to the Diablo 3 community where he admitted that Blizzard had miscalculated the demand for the item hunt end game in Diablo 3 which was developed around the appeal of the Real Money
Auction House (RMAH).
Mike stated that the developer is hard at work on the next game update which will give bored gamers new reasons to log back into the game and start playing again. "We are working on a gameplay system that will provide players who have max-level, high-powered
characters new goals to strive for as an alternative to the 'item hunt',” said Mike, but refused to mention what the new additions will be stating that they will be revealed with the next Diablo 3 update.
Mike also mentioned that the team has also been busy with fixing the game and the bugs which have been reported by the users on the official Diablo 3 forums. "On the game balance front, this update will contain changes designed to further deliver on the
team's goal of promoting 'build diversity, with buffs to many rarely used, underpowered class abilities," said Mike explaining the changes which the current patch has brought to the game and asked fans to expect much more with the next patch.
“Patch 1.0.4 will also include new and improved Legendary items that are more interesting, more powerful, and more epic in ways you probably won't be expecting,” he said, referring to the fan complaints of the lack of Legendary item drops in the game.
It seems that Blizzard is finally listening to the fans but will this be enough to save Diablo 3 from dying or will the game end up in the bargain bin just months after its release as gamers move on to other upcoming games.
