Although Blizzard have denied that the data of their users has been compromised using traditional hacking methods, they went on to state that they are still investigating if other means were used in the alleged attack.
In the first part of this article, (which can be found by clicking here), www.dbuz.com covered Blizzard’s statements on how the publisher assured gamers that hackers had not accessed their user’s account information and that the number of complaints from users who wanted their accounts to be investigated was extremely small.
However, Blizzard did not rule out the use of non-traditional means by the hackers to force their way into Battle.net and the publisher’s servers. The statement read:
"To that end, we've also seen discussions regarding the possibility of account compromises occurring in ways that didn't involve these "traditional" methods -- for example, by "session spoofing" a player's identity after he or she joins a public game.”
The statement went on to state that in terms of session spoofing, Blizzard had investigated the issue and “found no evidence to indicate compromises are occurring in this fashion, and we've determined the methods being suggested to do so are technically impossible.”
Having said that the publisher also assured fans that they would be using “continue to investigate reports such as these and keep you informed of important updates."
So it seems that Blizzard is on top of the situation, or rather they claim to be and for the time being it seems all is well in the world of Diablo 3.
The game itself has been a huge success financially as it sold over 3.5-million units in its first day and over 6-million units in its first week. Those figures have made the game the fastest-selling PC game of all time.
The flying start to sales resulted in Blizzard’s servers crashing, before they were back up again, only to torment gamers with the game-breaking Error 307. However, the publisher is working on a fix for that as well and despite all the controversies and short-comings on the supply and logistics side the game itself is a gem according to both gamers and review sites alike.
