The Ukrainian national team coach Oleg Blokhin complained about the referees and their ineptness in his team’s defeat to the Three Lions but also built up http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 in the EURO 2012 quarterfinals...
The Ukrainian national team coach Blokhin blamed the referees for their inability to spot that the ball had crossed over the line during the England versus http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 claimed that he had cleared the ball in time
to prevent a goal for the Ukrainian national team.
Ukraine’s coach complained to the match officials during the encounter as well as the linesmen was unable to see that the ball had actually crossed over the line which according to the rules counts as a goal in favour of the co-hosts.
Nonetheless, referee’s mistake eventually cost Ukraine the tie as they lost to England by a goal to nil courtesy of a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 header for the Three Lions at the other end. Ukraine did well for large parts of the match and even
created more goal scoring chances than the English themselves but they lacked that killer pass more often than not which in the end became their undoing.
The home side dominated the midfield and gave a better aesthetic account of themselves than their counterparts but England’s one goal lead was enough to carry them to the quarterfinals.
Blokhin said, "It is 50-50 against Italy. If England had played against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011, it would have been much harder. This is not the same Italy that won the World Cup (in 2006), so let's see how it goes." He added, "I won't allow anyone
to criticise my team, about Gusev or Shevchenko.”
He also spoke about the goal line clearance and the subsequent controversy by elaborating, "There are five referees on the pitch and the ball is 50cm behind the goal-line. Why do we need five officials?"
Blokhin did not include Shevchenko in the starting line up as the former A.C Milan striker was bogged down with a hamstring injury but Ukraine’s striker did make a late second half appearance but failed to make the desired impact.
