Blonde Fletch finishes in fastest time at williamhill.com Grand Prix, Jimmy Wright’s Magna Buddy also makes a name
The 2011 Sunderland Festival on Saturday 2nd July saw the opening heats of the williamhill.com Grand Prix. The Grand Prix consisted of six heats, each with six runners each. Out of the overall thirty six runners, the top three runners from each heat were selected to run in the semi-finals which will take place next Saturday, 9th of July, 2011.
Blonde Fletch, the 2008 son of Black Shaw and Glebe Stapler, was the fastest runner of all six heats, finishing the 640m race in a swift 39.31 seconds.
Earlier on 13th June 2011 he put up a terrific performance at the semi-final of the £7,500 Ladbrokes Summer Classic at Monmore and qualified for the final of the classic.
At the final he faced Head Iton Jason and lost to him, ending up in place position.
Winners from the other heats included Nyla Fantasy, Anfi Gem, Bower Hawk, Droopys Luisao and Head Iton Jason.
Hence, the field for next Saturday’s semifinal consists of eighteen greyhounds including Blonde Fletch, Head Iton Jason, Anfi Gem, Nyla Fantasy, Bower Hawk, Blue Bee, Droopys Luisao, Droopys Hester, Skywalkershearer, Hurleys Hero, Raving Black, Ballymac Xavi, Elwick Joaquin, Droopys Joyous, Glenbane Mile, Melview Ace, Pond Alesha and Pond Shefelia.
The trap draws for the semifinal have not taken place so far but are due to take place in the next twenty four hours.
From all these runners only six will make it to the final on Thursday, 14th of July, 2011.
With Head Iton Jason and Blonde Fletch, face to face again at the semi-final, will history repeat itself by allowing Head Iton Jason to win or will the odds be in favour of Blonde Fletch?  Or will both face defeat at the hands of a competitor? This we will find out next Saturday.
On the same day, the williamhill.com Classic took place as well, run over 450m at Sunderland, this race saw great talent emerge as Jimmy Wright’s Magna Buddy produced one of the fastest times of the night finishing in a mere 26.72 seconds.
